Radio Royal receives Big Lottery funding
Big Lottery Funding
We are pleased to announce that Radio Royal has been successful in a bid for funding support from The Big Lottery Fund - and we have been awarded £10,000.
This is of huge significance for the organisation and helps us in two ways. Firstly, it allows us to fund a Development Worker to act on behalf of Radio Royal for the next twelve months. We have a number of projects and ideas that we want to take forward and will benefit enormously from the professional support that a Development Worker can bring.
Secondly, we have purchased some new equipment as we begin the process of modernising our studios. Our presenters may have already noticed! Radio Royal's members will receive an email from the station's Chairperson, Jim Prentice, with more details. Radio Royal is proud to be associated with The Big Lottery Fund, which supports the aspirations of people who want to make life better for their communities across the UK. They are responsible for giving out 40% of the money raised by the National Lottery for good causes and invest over £650 million a year in projects big and small in health, education, environment and charitable purposes.
Since June 2004 they have awarded over £8 billion to projects that make a difference to people and communities in need, from early years intervention to commemorative travel funding for World War Two veterans. Since the National Lottery began in 1994, £33 billion has been raised and more than 450,000 grants awarded.
