The King meets with Prince Harry, Duchess of Sussex, Archie and Lilibet for first time in four years

The King has hosted Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet - the first time the monarch has seen his two grandchildren in years.

Prince Harry, Meghan and their children met with the King and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House on Friday.

The last time the monarch saw Archie and Lilibet was during Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to California in 2020 and now live in Montecito with their children, after initially setting up home in Canada following their departure from the UK.

Meghan stepped back from being a senior working royal as they embarked on a new life in the US when Prince Archie was 10 months old.

It was widely expected that, while Harry would travel to the UK for scheduled events, his family would not join him in visits to London. The prince had previously intended to travel with his family.

The King had offered to put the family up at an unnamed royal residence, but it was reported at the end of June that the prince's request for taxpayer-funded police protection had recently been denied.

Further confusion arose on Monday, when Buckingham Palace denied that Harry would stay there, shortly after the Duke's team said he had accepted an offer to do so.

Since coming back to the UK, Harry met staff, patients, and their families on a tour of Birmingham Children's Hospital to celebrate 20 years of the charity WellChild's specialist nursing programme.

He's also in the country for an event marking one year until the next Invictus Games.

On Tuesday, Harry and other high-profile claimants had their claims dismissed in court, after accusing the publisher of the Daily Mail of unlawfully obtaining stories about them.

Harry said the decision was a "complete reversal" of the position judges have previously taken, adding: "It is a complete and obvious whitewash, but sadly not altogether unexpected."
